The CitruSmyth joined the Wizards' Order after its founding, and brought a different focus to the craft.
She came from Stavehearth, a village deep in the Beryll Forest. Stavehearth had been known across Fermenta as a place of woodworkers — coopers, stave-carvers, and timber-masters whose barrel work fed nearly every brewery in the region. She was raised in that tradition, but the forge pulled her in.
She apprenticed with the smiths of Stavehearth and learned to shape steel and iron with the same precision her elders brought to wood. Over time she developed a technique no one in the village had tried before: weaving hot and cold work together to draw, seal, and stamp a new kind of vessel — lighter than wood, sealed in a way wood couldn't be, and capable of holding what wood couldn't.
That wasn't enough for her. She began studying the arcane, first to understand what enchantment could do for the vessels she was already making, then more broadly. She learned to bind brightness into metal, to hold balance in a finished form, and to set intent into a piece so it could carry more than its weight in function.
When word reached Stavehearth that the Wizards' Order was forming at Brewfall, she packed her tools and traveled to the capital. The Order was young. The Brewmage was building out the Inner Circle and starting the work that would shape the next era of Fermenta, and he brought her in.
Her first major contribution was the forging of the Order's earliest amulets, done alongside the Brewmage himself. The metals came from the Eastern Mountains and the gemwork was done in partnership with the master jewelers of the Beryll Forest. The CitruSmyth's Stavehearth background let her bridge the two — she knew the gems' grain, the metals' temper, and which ones would marry well. The first triangular amulet, the one the Brewmage wears now, was struck under her hammer in the Underforge.
Once the Inner Circle was outfitted, she turned to citrus. She spent years traveling the citrus-bearing reaches of Fermenta — the southern groves, the warm hills outside Brewfall, and the rind-bearing growths that had taken hold near Hopreach Grove. She studied how oil, acidity, and brightness behaved in proximity to hops, and kept field notes the whole time. Hers read like forge notes: strike at low heat, hold the brightness, fold the bitterness inward. The same logic she'd used to shape a vessel from sheet metal, applied to citrus.
What she developed is now archived by the Order as the Citrus Discipline — a practice of refinement rather than addition, where citrus is shaped to lead a beer instead of crowd it.
Using everything she'd built — the smithing, the arcane, the field observations — the CitruSmyth distilled the work into a single hazy IPA. Hopped with Wakatu, Riwaka, Citra, and Mosaic, the beer is expressive and citrus-forward without excess. Clean, focused, complete.
This beer is her contribution.
