The Hazehold

Overview

The Hazehold is a sealed brass-and-glass containment vessel used by the Turbidity Variance Authority to safely apprehend multiversal entities coming through the Gate. Football-shaped and roughly the size of a growler, it draws the essence of any entity it is opened against — threat or ally — out of its physical form and holds it safely inside its glass chamber, where the essence glows softly until the vessel is returned to the TVA's secure hold beneath Brewfall.

The Hazehold is the primary field instrument of the Hazerusher, current commander of the TVA.

Origin

The Hazehold was commissioned by the Brewmage in the earliest days of the TVA, shortly after the Voss family established the Authority in response to the Western Warlock's arrival through the Gate. The Brewmage brought the commission to the CitruSmyth, who forged the piece in the Underforge over the course of several seasons.

Its design principle was set from the beginning: the Order and the Voss court needed a way to handle whatever came through the Gate — friendly or otherwise — without needing to raise a hand to it. The Hazehold does not distinguish between threats and allies. This was intentional.

When the Hazerusher is in the field, the Hazehold is with him. When he is not, it rests in the Underforge with the CitruSmyth, who maintains it on his behalf.
