Hopreach Grove

View of Hopreach Grove, the dense forest beyond Brewfall where the Brewmage first encountered the Gate.

Overview

Hopreach Grove is a dense forest region located beyond the outer boundaries of Brewfall and is widely regarded as the most historically significant natural site within Fermenta. Known for its unusual hop growth, radiant citrus-bearing flora, and shifting atmospheric conditions, the grove became permanently intertwined with the rise of the Wizards’ Order following the appearance of the Gate deep within its interior.

Though the grove existed long before the Order itself, its study reshaped how magic, ingredients, and refinement were understood throughout Fermenta. To the Order, Hopreach Grove represents discovery through observation — the belief that understanding begins not with control, but with careful study of the world as it exists.

Origin

The earliest surviving records describe Hopreach Grove as an isolated and largely avoided wilderness on the edge of Brewfall, known primarily for dense hop vines that grew wild among unusually vibrant citrus-bearing trees. Long before the Wizards’ Order existed, travelers documented strange aromatic shifts within the forest, though few remained long enough to study them directly.

Everything changed following the appearance of the Gate.

According to archived Order records, the Brewmage encountered the Gate while traveling through the grove during an extended period of ingredient study and exploration. In the years that followed, he documented how the surrounding forest began changing in response to the Gate’s presence. New growth patterns emerged. Hop expression intensified. Flora unfamiliar to Fermenta began appearing near the threshold itself.

Rather than harvesting these changes blindly, the Brewmage studied them with restraint and intention. His observations within Hopreach Grove eventually attracted other practitioners interested in experimentation, refinement, and structured magical study.

That collective would later become the Wizards’ Order.

To this day, large portions of the grove remain protected by the Order, with certain interior regions restricted to members of the Inner Circle and trusted archivists.
