The First Sister has crossed and returned many times, and she is the first to hold the formal mission-title of Galaxyforager. Others of her Coven have made the crossing and have returned to tell the tail, though not all have returned.

Hazies

Hazies is a vast low-lying caldera far south of Brewfall, ringed by ancient stone cliffs called the Mistwalls. To reach it, you descend — through mountain passes cut into the walls, down into a floor perpetually covered in mist and steam rising from rock floors.

The mist is what the place is known for. It never fully clears. Rare herbs, mushrooms, and hop varieties grow only here — plants adapted to the humid, mineral-fed climate the Mistwalls have held in place for as long as anyone can remember.

The Sisters were born in Hazies and raised there. Their compound, the Hazeheart, sits at the caldera's center.

The Sisters of Hazies

The Sisters are seven siblings, born in Hazies and raised inside its mist. The Coven ranks by birth order. The First Sister is the eldest, the Seventh the youngest, and every Sister carries her rank as a formal title throughout Fermenta.

The Witches of Hazeheart predate the Brewmage and the Order by generations. Hazies has produced witches for longer than anyone in Brewfall can date — a slow line of witches trained inside the caldera, mostly ignored by the wider realm. The current seven are the latest of that line.

The Order's tie to them came through the Fifth Sister, who had, years earlier, left Hazies to apprentice under the Brewmage himself. She was his student for most of her twenties, and by every account she was his favorite. When the Western Warlock returned with stories of the Maltiverse — and then left again — the Brewmage went south to Hazies and asked her Sisters to help.

The Sisters agreed. Their trust in the Brewmage — rooted largely in his history with the Fifth Sister — was absolute at the time. It has since thinned.

The mission is simple: go where no other witch or wizard has gone, bring back what can be brought back, and record what can only be described. Each Sister has done it on her own, in her own realm. Six have come back. One has not.

The First Sister into the Maltiverse

The First Sister is the eldest of the seven, and the first to hold the formal mission-title of Galaxyforager. She has crossed the Gate and returned more times than any of her Sisters.

She's specifically good at finding ingredients in realms where "ingredient" is a loose category. She has returned from realms where hops behave like light, from realms where fermentation happens without yeast, and from realms she declines to describe. Her community wait for her at the Hazeheart between crossings. Her Sisters also, when asked, will tell you the First is the one they trust to always come back.
