Journey Deeper into the LORE…
What started as a single beer became something larger.
LORE expands that foundation through a rotating series of taproom-only IPAs — each one exploring a different discipline, ingredient, or approach within the Order.
Wizards’ Order IPA is the flagship IPA of TailGate Brewery — a modern juicy IPA crafted from years of refining process, ingredients, and intent. Led by the Brew Mage, the pursuit was never just to create another IPA, but to understand it — to push beyond convention and build something repeatable, expressive, and precise. Origins of the Wizards’ Order
In the realm of Fermenta, long before the Wizards’ Order existed, magic was simple and primitive. It was used, but rarely explored. Studied in isolation, but never refined. There were no real systems, no shared focus, and no place dedicated to understanding magic beyond its most basic forms.
During this time, a young wizard often roamed the forests of Hopreach Grove, drawn there by its dense hop growth and unusual citrus-bearing flora. While traveling through the grove, a sudden blast tore through the forest and The Gate appeared… an immense threshold unlike anything seen before.
At its center was a sigil of unknown origin.
Rather than fear the Gate, the wizard studied it. He observed how its presence altered the land, how new flora took hold around it, and how ingredients behaved differently near its threshold. Most importantly, he documented the dimensions the Gate opened beyond Fermenta and what (and who) returned through it.
With the help of a small group of like-minded wizards, more focused on study than spectacle, this work led to a deeper understanding of magic itself. What emerged was not raw power, but refinement. Process. Intention.
The focus on craft, experimentation, and excellence would eventually lead to the founding of the Wizards’ Order. The Order’s crest was created in homage to the symbol at the center of the Gate, marking work that met the standards first defined there.
